cDNA encoding the antifungal peptide MsrA2.

cDNA encoding the antifungal peptide MsrA2. When expressed in potato plants they obtained a significantly better broad resistance towards several potent pathogens, mainly fungus and oomycetes. MsrA2 was expressed at levels of 1-5ug /g of potato tissue [1].

At a concentration of 10ug/ml, MsrA2 was able to completely or heavily inhibit growth of and oomycetes, for tested bacteria concentration ranging from 50 to 75ug/ml was enough to kill or heavily inhibit the bacteria [1].
